To develop innovative solutions for Mediterranean farming systems based on high species diversification, including crop rotations, species mixtures in multi-service cover crops, intercrops and tree-crop associations.
To contribute to increase agricultural profitability and food security in the Mediterranean basin by optimizing the value and effectiveness of new high species diversified systems.
Dissect the yield gap of faba bean and soybean in Europe. It will make recommendations for enhancing the sustainability and resilience of farming systems by identifying the potential of cultivars, management practices and farmer knowledge to close the current yield and protein gaps, reduce yield variability and the EU-level protein shortfall, and increase resource-use efficiency.
Study and build with stakeholders the conditions for a greater integration of legumes in farming systems, and to estimate the effects expected, from the perspective of a sustainable management of territories and resources.
