Daniel PLAZA-BONILLA (PhD) is Ramón y Cajal fellow at the Universitat de Lleida (UdL), Spain. He performs his activities within the Crop and Forest Sciences Department. In 2013, he received his PhD in Agronomy with honours at UdL. He worked as a postdoc researcher at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRAe, France) and at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC, Spain). His research team focuses on the design and assessment of innovative climate-smart cropping system alternatives based on lower environmental impact, and adequate productivity, for a sustainable use of natural resources. The approach is systemic based on empirical techniques and soil-crop modelling.
He has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed articles (>40) in the areas of Agronomy, Soil Sciences and Environmental Sciences. He has advised several students (PhD, MSc and BSc). He is associate editor of two indexed (SCI) Journals: Geoderma and Journal of Environmental Quality. He has led different international and national projects of a range of calls. Has evaluated national and international project proposals for a range of calls. He has participated actively in extension seminars and field days to producers and academic teaching for five years in an agricultural community college.
